Description

Make: FN Model: A5 World Market Caliber: 16 GA Action: Semi Barrel: 27.5 Bore: Shiny Serial # 23826 Condition: Very Good Importer: NIM Collector! Fabrique Nationale D Armes Guerre Herstal Belgique (FN) began manufacturing 16ga Auto-5 shotguns in 1909, making this 1921 production a very early, highly collectible European-market version. True and Rare "World Market" FN guns were sold globally outside the US and lack the American "Browning Arms Co." roll marks like this example. A true FN A5 World Market manufactured in 1921s serial number should fall in the approximate range of 22,238 24,050 as this is serial number 23,826. True World Market guns of this era generally did not feature the standard roll engraving found on later Brownings, as FN simplified the Type I Grade models. Because they are sub gauge and early FN productions, Belgian 16ga Auto-5s usually command a premium. There are no Browning Arms markings, only Brownings Patent Depose with Belgian proof marks and cartouches on the barrel and receiver. It is chambered for 2 9/16 low pressure short hull shells. It is in its original blued finish with a high non vented rib barrel, stainless front bead sight, and a fixed Full choke. It has a really nice light and dark checkered walnut forend and straight stock ( also a tell tale of being a 1921 World Market) with a factory bakelite FN embossed buttplate and sling swivels. There are some scratches on the metal parts and some dings in the wood furniture showing normal use for its age. Please see photos.
