Antique Allen Monmouth bow-facing rowing oars featuring an articulated metal linkage system patented by Fred A. Allen of Monmouth, Illinois, in 1884. Known as “Grasshopper Oars,” this innovative design allowed rowers to face forward while rowing. Features long wooden oars with original-style mechanical hardware and aged painted finish. Uncommon collectible antique boating and nautical equipment.
