In excellent condition (for being an oval slab of rock with a very very old fish Fossilized within). Some dark marks on stone.
[Wikipedia] Diplomystus is an extinct genus of freshwater clupeomorph fish distantly related to modern-day extant herrings, alewives, and sardines. The genus was first named and described by Edward Drinker Cope in 1877.
Should Google Lens be accurate with its results regarding the fossil's identity, this piece would be from the Eocene period (~48 million years ago!)
