U.S. Springfield Armory 1898 Krag 30-40 Krag

Make: U.S. Springfield Armory Model: 1898 Krag Caliber: 30-40 Krag Action: Bolt Barrel: 24 Bore: Frosty Serial # 156544 Condition: Very Good Manufactured in 1899 as per serial number. At some point this rifle was modified most likely at a VFW post. They usually had their standard Krag rifles 'shortened' to a 24" barrel length to make them appear 'more like' the 1903 Springfield rifle. Whom ever did this did a marvelous job! The dark walnut stock is in great condition with definate signs of use through the years and retains the inspector's mark dated 1899 year of mfg on the left side of the neck above the trigger and acceptance cartouche on the bottom just below the trigger guard. Fixed front and adjustable rear sights, original patina on all metal parts. Please see photos. C&R
