It is an all matching number, FN Herstal Belgian manufactured 'Model 1950' Mauser bolt action rifle,in its original 30-06 Sprgf caliber. The receiver ring has "Crown over L" (royal letter of king Leopold of Belgium) over ABL 1951. The barrel length is 23.5". The bore is clear, with signs of use but still bright and with strong rifling. This rifle was a Belgian Army contract Mauser short rifle (K98 style). The rifle has the characteristic baked black enamel finish used by the Belgian Army (as opposed to the baked gray enamel finish found on the Belgian Navy contract rifles). Some collectors believe that M.1950 rifles were also used in the Belgian Congo as was this particular rifle. There are following maker's markings on the left side of the receiver, "FAB. NAT. D'ARMES de GUERRE, HERSTAL - BELGIQUE". The lower part of the stock displays a cartouche stamped just in front of the trigger guard and a serial number stamped on the right side of the stock just under the receiver�s serial number stamp. There are some other Belgian proof marks stamped on the metal and wood. It has a ramp and leaf rear sight calibrated from 100 to 1900 meters and the correct style straight bolt handle. Included are a leather Belgian military sling, Belgian army helmet, cleaning kit, manual, a Belgian army web belt with a double leather ammo pouch and bayonet with metal scabbard and leather frog, and 2 laminated Belgian Congo display cards with stamps, flag, and map.
