Make: Colt Model: Model of 1911 U.S. Army Caliber: .45 ACP Action: Semi Barrel: 5 Bore: Bright Serial # 316180 Condition: Good �Collectors� Manufactured in 1918 as per serial number. Here we have a Colt Model of 1911 U.S. Army Pistol, made in 1918 in Hartford, Connecticut. John Moses Browning�s famous pistol was adopted by the U.S. government in 1911 and attained iconic status throughout both World Wars, Korea, Vietnam and beyond.This one was made in the last year of the Great War. It is marked �UNITED STATES PROPERTY� on the left side of the frame. Also on the left side of the frame behind the trigger is the �Eagle S/4� government inspector mark. The right side of the slide is marked �MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY�. The serial number dates the gun to 1918. The left side of the slide is marked �PATENTED APR. 20, 1897. SEPT. 9, 1902/DEC.19, 1905. FEB.14, 1911. AUG.19, 1913� with a rampant colt in the middle, then �COLT�S PT. F.A. MFG.CO./HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.� The rear of the slide above the firing pin bar bears a small �H� inspector�s mark, and 1 - 7 rnd two tone period correct magazine. The overall condition is realy good. The metal surfaces have a nice, even patina and clear markings. The thumb safety and the barrel bushing bear more finish than the rest. The double diamond grips are in nice shape. The bore is sharp and bright. The action is excellent. Here is a fantastic Colt 1911 from World War I! Please see photos. C&R
