Antique rifle C.B. Allen model Turret rifle, .40 Seven shot percussion, w/ bbl length 29 1/2" [Blued or browned octagonal barrel. Fixed front and rear sights. Walnut stock and forend. Curved metal coin silver butt plate and back strap etc. Markings include eagle over "C.B. ALLEN SPRINGFIELD MASS" on hinged top strap. Matching serial number "1" on left side of barrel, left side of receiver, top of receiver under turret, top of turret, turret pivot, underside of brass turret cover, top of coin silver back strap and underside of upper tang. Note: no patent date seen. Referencing Flayderman's Guide 9th edition, our example has similarities to third type with easily removable seven shot turret and differing in that the cocking lugs are two small wings and it is fitted with a trigger guard and the protective brass . Again referencing Flayderman's serial no. 1 should be a first type which this firearm clearly isn't, having serial number one and no patent stamps reference stamps and stamps referencing Cochrane. Could this be an unidentified proto type or is there some other explanation? There are similarities to the Daniels patent but no clear markings to indicate that. Mechanically appears to function well. Natural brow grey patina. Finger nail sized chip on bottom rear of stock plus other use, handling and storage marks.] serial # 1, No PAL required Items are still being added Latest Update October 13, 2026 Bids Cannot be Withdrawn Once Placed.
